Difficult parking.
Not the best exchange on the island. Limited variety of natural hair products and trendy clothing. Compared to other exchanges, this one is pretty small and runs out of products frequently. Lines are typically long, even during duty hours. Hickman is better.
Customer returns are hit or miss. Like the Navy Exchange, you can sometimes have the misfortune of meeting a very unhappy employee, who makes your life difficult. Other times, it'll be wonderful. I always have to take a deep breath before walking into customer service. Take a number as soon as you arrive there. Even if there is absolutely no one else waiting for customer service, if you don't have a number, sometimes they will completely ignore you.
With that in mind, 3 stars. And a big sigh.
Bathroom in the far back of the store, next to customer service. Bathrooms also available in the main Mall, next to the food court.
As with all exchanges, tax free. Provide your own bags and get a $0.05 discount per bag.
If you'd like to match the Navy Exchange sales flyer, bring a copy of it. Chances are they will match it, however I have had some difficulty when the picture is not the exact item, or is a representation of an item. If the sale calls for Suave body wash, and the picture shown in the sales flyer is one scent (as many sales flyers/circulars will just show a representation like this, but the entire type of that particular body wash is on sale) the item you're purchasing has to be that EXACT SCENT, not just that type--even if both scents are the exact same price, size, brand, and type. Doesn't make much sense, but that's the way they're operating here.
Just like most exchanges. Customer service is pretty good most of the time. Tax free shopping and a decent selection of items. I just wouldn't buy clothes here.
Reasonable hours.
This post exchange has many shops that have huge discounts and sales that make shopping on island much cheaper. The food court has many options at a good price and good portions. Outside the exchange there are several food shops set up that provide a great alternative to the DEFAC for lunch and dinner.
This Exchange will price match without too much difficulty, provided you can show them pictures of what you want to price match. I have not had much success with price matches solely verbally, under $5. Best to just have a picture.
Three stars for the convenience, if you are stationed at Schofield. Not having to drive back from town all the way out to Schofield actually is worth about two stars.
Better than the Navy Exchange in that they will email you your receipt, handy if you need to save it for tax purposes or to return an item.
There is an Exchange app, however I have not found it to be at all useful here.
Deeply regrettable, as any proceeds from items bought here go to support Army families. However, customer service is consistently so poor here, that many Army families will shop at a Navy Exchange, sending all that money to support Navy families instead of our own. Sometimes, I will purchase here just to try to put some money back into Army coffers instead of just giving it all to the Navy. It is the biggest ARMY Exchange on island.
I always walk in with needing to get one thing and walk out with a couple bags. The food court has a good selection of locally ran venues. It is the busiest around lunch time.
Unfriendly sales staff for the most part.
